Tutorial: Company Setup

Setting your company up correctly — especially the financial year — makes every later report accurate. This takes a few minutes.

Step 1 — Open business/company setup

  • Right after sign-up you're taken to Business setup automatically.
  • Later, complete or edit it from the dashboard reminder banner or Settings → Company.

Step 2 — Enter company details

Fill in:

  • Company name (appears on your invoices and reports)
  • Registration number
  • Industry
  • Address and logo (shown on documents)

Step 3 — Set your financial year (important)

Choose your financial start and financial end months.

  • A calendar-year business uses January → December.
  • A business whose year runs, say, May → April should set that.

Why it matters: the financial year controls how every report is grouped and which "year" appears in the report dropdowns. For a May–April business, FY2027 = 1 May 2026 – 30 Apr 2027. Get this right before recording lots of transactions. See Reports → choosing the period.

Step 4 — SST registration (if applicable)

If your business is SST-registered, mark SST-registered and enter your SST registration number. This appears on documents and drives the SST-02 return. See SST. If you're not SST-registered, leave this off.

Step 5 — Finish

Save. Your setup is marked complete and the onboarding reminder disappears.

Step 6 — (If migrating) enter opening balances

If your business already existed before ASPLUS, record your starting balances so your books continue seamlessly. 👉 Tutorial: Opening Balance.

If you're starting a brand-new business, skip this.

Adding more companies

One account can hold up to 3 companies, each with its own books, plan and AI credits.

  1. Use the company switcher at the top of the app.
  2. Choose Add new company.
  3. Set it up with its own details and financial year (repeat this tutorial).

Whether you can add another company depends on your plan/quota — see Plans & Billing.

Company Setup FAQ

I chose the wrong financial year — can I change it later?

Yes, in Settings → Company. After changing it, review your Balance Sheet and Trial Balance (run Books Integrity if unsure), because the change affects how reports are grouped. See Reports.

Do my companies share anything?

No — each company has separate contacts, items, transactions, reports and AI credit wallet. Always check the company switcher shows the one you intend to work in.

Can I skip setup and do it later?

Yes — choose "Set up later" and finish from the dashboard reminder or Settings. Just don't rely on reports until your financial year is set correctly.
